ALEXA SIMPSON: The atmosphere in my private sessions and workshops is warm, light-hearted and playful. Every student receives personal attention and assistance, and I take great care to make sure that everyone learns how to practice yoga safely. I have been a passionate student of yoga and meditation since 1965. I trained intensively with teachers both in India and the United States, including Sw. Chinmayananda and later Sw. Satchidananda, Sw.Muktananda and Sw. Chidvilasananda. I completed my yoga teacher certification through the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco and taught in Berkeley and Santa Barbara before moving to Benicia where I and opened the Yoga for Life studio. In 1998 I began training in Anusara Yoga. This is the fastest growing style of yoga in America. It integrates "Universal Principles of Alignment and Form", the art of inner body awareness and celebration of the heart. Since then, I completed both Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Training with John Friend. The therapeutic benefits of yoga are of particular interest to me. I also have a Masters Degree in Health Education and have received special training in using yoga to help people who have MS or other disabilities that limit mobility.
